While Dr. Skalicky, Dr. Shafran, and Dr. DeRosa’s practice encompasses all plastic surgery and dermatology procedures, he has developed a particular expertise in minimally invasive and non-invasive procedures. According to Dr. Skalicky, “There is a wave of patients that want aesthetic improvement with less downtime and recovery. This desire has led to my creation of Bucks County Plastic Surgery and Dermatology that utilizes less invasive procedures to give a rejuvenated look for patients at earlier ages with little or no recovery.”
Botox® Cosmetic is a non-surgical injectable procedure which can temporarily relax the muscles responsible for expression lines on the face. Botox injections may be used to eliminate frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and lipstick lines. It can also return the corners of the mouth to an upturned position, create a more youthful-looking upper lip, and eliminate an “orange-peel” appearance of the chin. This quick, virtually painless injection has been the most popular cosmetic procedure performed in the Unites States for the past three years. Our goal at Bucks County Plastic Surgery is to soften the look of the face, making it prettier but not expressionless. Good candidates for Botox® Cosmetic include men and women of all ages who are seeking a more relaxed and refreshed look.
Juvederm Injectable Gel is a long-lasting facial filler comprised of hyaluronic acid. This smooth gel filler can be injected under the skin to instantly smooth out wrinkles and folds. It can also be used to add volume to areas where it has been lost or where additional volume is desired for improved facial symmetry. Juvederm Injectable Gel’s innovative Hylacross technology provides the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid in an extremely smooth formula. This allows for minimal discomfort during the injection process and smoother, more natural and longer lasting results. Good candidates for Juvederm Injectable Gel treatment include men and women who are looking to improve wrinkles, folds, or a loss of volume resulting from age, as well as those looking to correct volume deficiencies for a more balanced facial appearance.
Juvéderm Voluma™ XC
Juvederm Voluma XC is a Hyaluronic Acid filler, designed to replace lost facial volume in the cheek area. A smooth injectable gel, Voluma XC provides patients with immediate results. A single treatment can restore a healthy, more youthful appearance. Juvederm Voluma XC is the only noninvasive alternative to Cheek Implants approved by the FDA. A Juvederm Voluma XC treatment will take between 10 and 20 minutes to complete; the results can be seen instantly. Using a tiny needle, Dr. Skalicky or Dr. Shafran administer the Dermal Filler in a predetermined manner, along the ridge of the cheekbone. Minimal discomfort is associated with a Voluma XC treatment; patients generally report feeling a pinch or pressure at the injection site. Lidocaine is mixed with Voluma XC, gently numbing the area with each injection.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing, commonly called a laser peel, removes the outer, damaged layer of skin to reveal a smoother, younger look. Laser resurfacing can reduce the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, uneven pigmentation and superficial scarring, usually on the face. A carbon dioxide (CO2) laser beam of precisely focused light vaporizes the surface skin and reveals the undamaged layer beneath. Laser treatments can reduce the appearance of sun damage, acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, vascular lesions and uneven pigmentation. Lasers offer many advantages over traditional, mechanical technology, including “bloodless” surgery, reduced risk of infection, less scarring, high precision, limited injury, and faster procedures.
Radiesse, formerly known as Radiance, is an injectable facial filler comprised of a calcium-based gel which can reshape the facial contours. Radiesse creates a scaffolding effect when injected beneath the surface of the skin, encouraging and supporting new collagen growth. The skin’s foundation is rebuilt, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Radiesse can literally redesign the face by eliminating dark hollows beneath the eyes, creating cheekbones, filling deep creases, and sculpting the jawline. The results are long lasting and do not involve the risks associated with permanent fillers or implants.
Restylane is an injectable facial filler comprised of a hyaluronic acid gel. Restylane may be used to fill in and improve the appearance of deep crevices, fine lines, acne scars, and other scars. It may also be used to add volume to the lips, the cheeks, and the area around the eyes. Restylane has been a very popular filler since 1996. Good candidates for Restylane treatment include men and women who are looking for a soft, natural volume enhancer that provides good support. The Restylane injection is an in-office procedure which takes less than one hour to complete. A topical numbing agent and/or dental block may be used to optimize the patient’s comfort.
Sculptra® is an injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Sculptra® is an injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. The results from Sculptra® are not immediate but they are long-lasting. In a clinical study, effects lasted for up to two years after the first treatment session in most patients. No skin testing is required.
Skin Rejuvenation / Peels
The natural consequences of aging on our skin include sun damage, freckles, age spots, acne scarring, enlarged pores, and redness caused by broken capillaries and rosacea. Photorejuvenation reduces these signs of aging using non-invasive, painless pulses of light. Treatments can also improve the appearance of birthmarks and uneven pigmentation and stimulate the production of collagen. There is no recovery time and low risk of complications. Multiple sessions of about 20 minutes each are performed every few weeks until the desired result has been achieved. A variety of functional and cosmetic skin problems can be treated with lasers.
